and, for EMS projects, an initial environmental review are undertaken at the start of a management system project. This ensures that an accurate road map can be produced highlighting all actions, timescales and resources required to implement the management system in question.

The Gap Analysis process involves the following:

• Reviewing the company management processes against the requirements of the standard (or standards) to be implemented. 
• Reviewing physical sites and departments within the defined scope of the system
• Undertaking staff interviews / discussions to gain a broad perspective of the present company situation



It is only after the gap analysis has been undertaken that an effective fully compliant system can be established.
